Are your days are packed with meeting after meeting that you find yourself behind on the projects you need to get done? We often hear this from our business clients that they cannot get ahead because meetings are slowing them down. Here at CPL Coaching we find resources to help guide and support you in areas that hold you back from having a Career that gives you a sense of Purpose so that you are Living instead of existing. Don’t let meetings get in your way from thriving! Allow them to do what they are supposed to do.
In Patrick Lencioni’s book, “Death by Meeting”, he compares meetings to four different types of television shows or movies. They should entice the audience and have each member on their toes and active in the process. If you look around the room in your meeting is everyone involved or are they responding to email? Below is a link for a page summary of the four types of meetings from Patrick Lencioni’s book “Death by Meeting”. Let us know how we can support you as you develop meetings that make a difference in your team!
This week on our Facebook Live video, we continued our College Planning series talking about your interests and how this can relate to your college plans (which school to go to, which major to choose). Part of making this important decision is really knowing yourself, your personality, and your interests well. Think of this like a tree: those roots (personality, interests, strengths, values) need to be strong in order for the other branches to grow (college, major, career). Here is the website we talked about on our Facebook Live: https://www.mynextmove.org/. This website can help you determine your interests based on John Holland’s six personality types: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional. It also can help you look at common career paths that are common for different interests. Please check out this resource and let us know what you think or if you have any questions- we would love to hear from you! You can comment on our Facebook video or send us an email at email@example.com. Let us know how we can support you in understanding your interests!
This week on our Facebook Live video, we began our College Planning series with understanding personality as a foundation so that you can pick a college, major, or career that fits with your personality and strengths. We love sharing resources with you, so we’ve included a picture below that breaks down the Myers-Briggs types and the website https://www.16personalities.com/, where you can take a free test and learn more characteristics about your personality. CPL stands for Career Purpose Living, and we love working with people to help them find a career with a sense of purpose that allows them to truly live. Understanding your personality is an important piece of this, so if you have any questions, please reach out to us by commenting on our Facebook video or sending us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Let us know how we can support you in understanding your personality. Also, if you missed the video yesterday morning, you can go back and watch it anytime on our Facebook page!
Thank you to everyone who tuned in yesterday morning to our Facebook Live Coffee and Career Coaching with Kyle. If you missed it, don’t worry, you can always go back and watch it on our CPL Coaching Facebook page! This morning our topic was “What Do You Need to Make a Plan?”, whether that might be a support network of people, setting aside time to plan, or taking small steps at a time in order to reach your goal. I want to share with you all something that has really helped me with planning what I need to focus on first, and we use this often at CPL Coaching to figure out what to tackle first in a meeting or how to prioritize the day or the week. Stephen Covey’s Time Management Matrix can help you map out what things need to be taken care of first and which can be done later. Let us know what you think or how CPL Coaching can support you with creating and sticking to your plan! Join us next Tuesday Oct 2nd at 8:00 am for Facebook Live- we’ll be talking about colleges and the application process!
