The numbers of high school students that are employed have hit a 20 year old low. I often talk to students that are planning on going to college and have never held a job. The working world is a different culture from that of school. It is an understood etiquette that students are not learning. Don’t let the competitive working world be a deterrent. Volunteer your time and get yourself out there. The longer you go in life without working the hardest it is to get your first job. Don’t just fill out an application online and wait to get a call. Show employers that you have initiative and drive by meeting with them in person. Work experience is priceless. It not only gives you a needed income but it teaches you about the world of work.
