Feeling restless? Having a hard time relaxing? I have one word to share with you…mindfulness! If I had one 15 minutes to help somebody who is struggling, I would try to expose them to the concept of mindfulness.
What is mindfulness…Google it. You will see that it is a belief that many people share that is often rooted from pain. Remember, we grow the most out of adversity or pain rather than when everything is status quo.
As human beings, we all share the desire for happiness and meaning in our lives. According to the Dalai Lama, the ability to find true fulfillment lies within each of us. Mindfulness and meditation are great tools for stress relief, anxiety, depression or something more severe like PTSD. However, many people practice mindfulness meditation every day.
It’s interesting to research it and view all the terrific quotes that emerge. The quotes that people post on social media actually do help themselves and others. It helps with the philosophy of life and reminds one to stay in the moment. There are over 434 quotes that have been tagged as mindfulness: “Many people think excitement is happiness....but when you are excited you are not peaceful. True happiness is based on peace.” (Quote from Thich Nhat Hanh)
Learning to quiet your mind and stay in the moment is the key. To do so takes great practice. It sounds so simplistic but it is not easy at all. First you have to make your space very quiet…and then you have to embrace the silence. With silence comes great clarity. My coaching partner commented that I had such clarify and she really appreciated it. That clarity comes from growth and experience. It can be a difficult concept to grasp until one is ready.
After one practices mindfulness then true peace, friendship and love may follow. Explore it. Try it. Embrace it. Wisdom will follow.
